Do you know why? I mean do you have a clear cut statement of how you will benefit from significant weight-loss? Is it weight you need to lose or is it fat? Fat burning requires a different strategy than just weight-loss alone. Also muscle building is yet another approach to fitness. It requires still another approach. That is why I ask you if you know why you want to lose weight.
There are many reasons why it is important to get fit and stay fit. Recent reports tell us that the state with the highest rate of obesity is Mississippi. Next in line is Alabama. I have a friend in Alabama who understands this reality and works steadily to keep ahead of the trend. Sometimes it is not good to be number one on the list. Or number 2. Yet when everyone around is lax about eating and exercise and the heat and humidity are oppressive, it is a difficult path to walk, or run, especially as we age.
I read an article in Scientific American recently about how being physically fit helps you keep your mind mentally alert too. It makes sense. You need good circulation for your brain to work right. Regular exercise is one way to keep that circulation and cardiovascular system running smoothly. Being careful not to overeat also helps. Remarkably it is still true that drinking more water and less soda or carbonated beverages is also beneficial to both your body and your brain.
Ideally if we are in good health and have cared for our bodies and our minds, we can live to old age and be healthy when we get there. We can really stay sharp, it is not a case of winning the gene pool lottery.
Our customary view is that intelligence is primarily genetic. But that is only part of the story. What you choose to eat and drink and do with your mind and body does have multiple affects on your health and mental condition throughout your life.
We may not be capable of avoiding all diminishment in our mental or physical performance over time, but it is astounding what this research is revealing about how much power we have to maintain our own wellness and mental health with physical activity. Thinking and keeping physically active go hand in hand. Each one affects the other.
So, I ask you again, do you know why you want to lose weight? I know why I do. I want to be healthy and mentally alert through all of my life. So I turned to a calorie shifting diet plan to help me get on top of the need to get rid of excess belly fat. It is working well. I am losing about 9 pounds every 11 days. Take a look at the program I am following at my calorie shifting site. Be fit, mentally and physically as long as you are able. You will appreciate it and your family will too!
